In 2010, please ask 10 people you know to become sustainers of or contributors to Missouri ProVote. ProVote is leading the charge for comprehensive health care reform, as the lead partner organization in Missouri for Health Care for America Now. We are gearing up for an absolutely crucial 2010 election cycle, which includes a closely contested US Senate race, and the potential for progressives to win in the Missouri House. Ask 10 in ‘10!
A big part of the fight for health care reform in Missouri has centered around Senator Claire McCaskill. ProVote has worked hard with partners and allies to remind Senator McCaskill that real reform is what Missouri needs and what Missourians want. Senator McCaskill has consistently supported real reform, and is currently the sponsor of a crucial affordability amendment to the Senate version of health care reform. Her amendment will make sure that insurance is affordable for millions of Americans who are currently struggling under ballooning health care expenses. Ask 10 in ‘10!
As President Barack Obama came into office, the nation stared into an economic abyss far worse than the recession we are currently coming out of. The economic stimulus passed early this year was essential to stopping the skid and getting the country back on the right track. It’s high time to make the economy work for working Americans again, not just CEO’s and multinational corporations. The issue isn’t about higher taxes or big government, it’s about fair taxes and good government. ProVote worked hard with partners and allies to win this victory and pass the historic economic stimulus. Ask 10 in ‘10!
Seeing to it that all voices are heard on Election Day is a fundamental part of progressive values. In 2008, as part of our civic engagement strategy, ProVote registered 25,000 voters from underrepresented communities, to promote greater social justice in our democratic system. With your financial support, our civic engagement work will continue this year. Ask 10 in ‘10!
ProVote works at a variety of levels to help progressives win elected office. In January 2010, ProVote will host a candidate training for progressive candidates. The difference between winning and losing state-level races is working hard and working smart. ProVote candidate trainings emphasize both of these, and help make sure that progressive candidates run strong, strategic, efficient campaigns. Ask 10 in ‘10!
